Balkans
The Balkan Peninsula comprises the countries formerly known as Yugoslavia (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Croatia), and includes Bulgaria, Greece, and parts of Turkey. Some people also consider Romania and parts of Slovenia as part of the Balkans.
It is an area steeped in a complicated history, home to majestic mountains, and bordered by the Adriatic Sea.
